NRI Legal Services
NRI legal services for non-resident Indians and OCI cardholders, your matter in India is prosecuted, defended, or completed exactly as if you were standing in the courtroom yourself, while you stay in the USA, UK, UAE, MENA, Australia, or Singapore.
Background
What NRI legal services from India cover
NRI legal services bridge the procedural gap between where you live and where your matter sits. The work spans property, title verification, partition, sale via Power of Attorney; family law, divorce, custody, maintenance, 498A defence; succession, wills, succession certificates, FEMA-compliant repatriation; criminal defence, anticipatory bail, FIR quashing, trial representation; and OCI/visa coordination. Most steps are now possible without flying back, using a registered POA, virtual hearings, and on-ground counsel.

LawCrust handles the Indian-jurisdiction limb of every cross-border matter, courts in India, registrars in India, regulators in India. Common Questions
NRI Legal Services, Asked & Answered
Do I need to fly to India to handle my matter?
In most matters, no. A registered Power of Attorney, virtual hearings, and on-ground LawCrust counsel are sufficient for property transactions, mutual-consent divorce, succession applications, and many bail and quashing applications. You may need to attend in person for evidence stages of contested trials or for biometric registration of certain deeds, we will tell you exactly when and for how long.
How long does an NRI matter typically take?
Power of Attorney drafting and registration: 2 to 4 weeks. Property sale or gift deed: 1 to 3 months once POA is in place. Mutual-consent divorce: 6 to 18 months. Succession certificate: 4 to 8 months. Anticipatory bail: 2 to 6 weeks. Contested matters take longer, we provide a written timeline after the discovery call.
Will time-zone differences slow my matter down?
Our NRI desks run on US, UK, and Gulf hours. Calls are scheduled in your time zone, written updates arrive once a week, and our matter managers work overlapping shifts so urgent questions are answered within hours, not days.
I am scared of being scammed by lawyers in India after reading horror stories online. How do I avoid this?
Stick to firms with a verifiable CIN, a registered office, and an organised intake process, never to a "cousin's friend" or a tout at the registrar. A premium consulting firm will quote fees in writing, send an engagement letter, accept payment by bank transfer (never cash), and give you a named matter lead. LawCrust is a Public Limited Company (CIN U69100MH2023PLC413428) with offices in 7 Indian cities plus Dubai and Delaware.
My parents in India are old and cannot run around courts. Can you handle everything end-to-end?
Yes, that is the most common NRI engagement. We handle court appearances, registrar visits, bank coordination, and document collection through our on-ground teams, your parents are kept informed but never asked to travel or sit through court. Where their presence is legally required (rare), we send a person to escort them.
I have property, marriage, and criminal-defence matters in India all at once. Do I need three lawyers?
No, you need one matter lead who coordinates a panel. That is exactly what a premium legal consulting firm does, unlike a single-office traditional law firm. We assign one relationship manager who pulls in our property, family, and criminal-defence panel advocates as needed, with one shared engagement letter and one weekly status report.
How do I pay your fees from abroad? Will it create FEMA issues?
Most NRI fees are paid by wire transfer to our Indian bank account from your foreign-currency account, no FEMA issue, payment for professional services is a current-account transaction. Some clients prefer paying via their NRO account. We issue a tax-compliant invoice and provide the Form 15CB where required for repatriation of any unspent retainer.
